Rocket Scientist, Astronaut and STEM Education Advocate
You don’t need to go to space to discover ways to enhance the educational experience for young people. Our next keynote speaker, Aisha Bowe, is going to space just to make sure! This former NASA rocket scientist is headed to space with Blue Origin and will become the first person of Bahamian descent in space. Before she leaves the planet, she is stopping by this year’s Summer Summit on Tuesday, August 27.
Aisha is passionate about empowering students to pursue careers in STEM. She founded LINGO, a self-paced coding kit for learning technical concepts at home. Before that she founded STEMBoard, which was recognized by Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest growing companies in America. This DC-based technology company uses its profits to bring more minorities into careers of science and technology. She is also a host on “Your Next Move” by INC Magazine where she features "authentic and insightful conversations with some of today’s most innovative and exciting entrepreneurs and business leaders."
Aisha’s journey towards the stars is an interesting one. She was a self-proclaimed wayward high school student. But once she got to community college she discovered a passion for math and science. From there, she earned two degrees in aerospace engineering and earned her first job at NASA. Her message is one that will resonate with students everywhere.
